Special Characters for ASCII Art
By: David Rader II on July 14, 2007 @ 6:24 AM

This is a much smaller, but less common list characters.

To make these special ascii characters, hold ALT and press the numbers on the numpad on the right side of the keyboard.

i found this very useful thank you very much. i have looked for this for idk how long and finally i have found it thank you now i can make my name look kick Åss i only wish i could find a good "S" symbol that would be great but meh can't have everything. great job.

#2 David Rader August 17, 2008 @ 2:51 PM
While it may not be a special character, the dollar sign can make a pretty cool S.

$ee here ;)

you're welcome?

#4 Ty Anderton September 17, 2008 @ 12:23 AM
251 named check mark is actually the square root symbol but it can be used as a check

#5 Haxor February 19, 2009 @ 6:54 AM
man, ive been using the ascii leters forever and kept them secret so i'd be one of the few with the "§i|e//Ce"

#6 RowSkin February 23, 2009 @ 5:39 PM
I hate it when people, especially weemos, type in ascii. Like Haxor just did.

#7 CR Randlewood February 26, 2009 @ 12:56 PM
How come when I type Alt-234 I get Û and not the symbol for Omega? Something changed and I am not sure why. Can someone enlighten me please?

#8 David Rader February 26, 2009 @ 11:27 PM
Randlewood, I wonder if maybe the language settings on your computer are different than standard... E.g. English or English International... I assume it has this problem not only in the browser correct? Otherwise it's browser specific.

#9 Lennie March 25, 2009 @ 11:07 AM

#11 Scooter8511 June 18, 2009 @ 3:59 AM
wow...sorry about that last post...is it possible for someone to delete that? i don't know how...
it should look like this:

special characters!!!
this is a very LARGE list...
i tested all of these that are listed personally...
it took a long time...PLEASE enjoy...

to use: hold down the "alt" key, then type in the number
indicated before the = sign next to your selected character
via the "numpad" (MUST use the num pad, num lock does not
have to be on for this to work...)

Hi, I'm looking for the heart ascii so I can include in my sms messages and email footer. From your website I can only see the heart appearing as "square". Is it that my mobile phone is unable to discipher the character?

Also I would like to introduce to you the star character.. ?

Found it in my sms messages and copied to the web! Enjoy =D

It is most likely your phone unable to view the smiley face. Many phones will turn common faces like (without the spaces) : ) and < 3 into smiley faces... :) and <3

But windows does not. Many instant messengers do though. ♥ For PC, just ALT+3=♥ Heart
