Swing Kids the Movie

I watched Swing Kids for at least the second time last week. The first time was in High School... I don't know if teachers are still allowed to select movies they prefer, but I hope so.

There are so many good classics out there. Dawn, our daughter, my mom, and pop just finished watching swing kids on our new couch. What a great way to break in the new couch!

Unfortunately, my favorite video venue (Netflix) doesn't have Swing Kids available for online play at the moment, but you can rent it there or any physical store location (like Blockbuster, Movies R US, or other local video venue).

It's about some "Swing Kids" who just love swingin (dancing!) in the late 1930's during a Nazi uprising. Its strong point is bringing out the potential issues found between friends and peers dealing with moral and life issues when an outside force is overwhelming their ideals and lifestyles. Personally, I can understand how it would be hard to turn a job down I may need to support my family even if it were morally "gray." What do I pass on to my family though if I lose the principals on which I stand?

Government mind control is necessary- Like general education. As we've seen before with the all-too-popular Nazi Germany, when not controlled properly... well, George Washington said it best;

"Government is not reason. It is not eloquence. Government is force; like fire it is a dangerous servant - and a fearful master."
—George Washington, 1797

Patriotism is not always agreeing with our masters and supporting them, sometimes it is disagreeing while they support us. Personally, I find both leftists and rightists both about half wrong... Or all "right" (no pun intended) depending on the context. Until humanity finds its center, our pendulum will swing. Every once in a while I think we get a glimpse of what peaceful humanity holds.

Seeing "Swing Kids" has reminded me of just how easily good people can be swept up into destroying an otherwise peaceful thing, without even realizing what they were getting in to.
