People Are Like Fire

By: David Rader II on June 30, 2008 @ 6:21 PM

After having some of my pain medication stolen from me and some money not paid to me which was owed by a friend, I've come to a realization. I've realized something I can compare people to without making them seem like bad people themselves.

FIRE
All people are like fire. Everyone has limits to things they will do. It is the nature of the person, as it is the nature of fire to burn.

Some fires burn deep and long and are hard to extinguish, yet they do not spread. This is a persons will power and their self conviction.

All fires are affected by the wind and rain. Just as people are often times a victim of circumstance, so is fire. However, a persons conviction can stand against the wind and rain and it does not mean they will always win.

Just like a fire in a strong wind, not much can be done to stop a person who steals from stealing. Except do not let a thief see things they might steal, do not let a borrower borrow because they plan to keep.

A fire by itself isn't a bad thing by itself. In fact it takes the wind to decide its direction, just like people, where the wind is words. That makes us all a victim of circumstance. Though it is not an excuse, it is a reason, because the moment we learn how circumstance affects us is the moment we can fight back, starting by opening our minds.

In the mean time, if a fire burns in the direction of a house, sometimes the best thing to do is to leave the house and keep oneself. But that does not make the fire itself bad, it's merely a victim of circumstance. As with someone who steals pills, money, or commits other offenses, sometimes the best thing to do is to... What?

Guess that's why ancient philosophers believed humans were comprised of fire, earth, air, and water.

I didn't know that! Well at least modern scientists would agree that we're 70% water or some such lol.
