When searching for “Did not receive package amazon” on google, Google suggest a phone number at the top which I clicked to automatically dial.

The person on the other end of the line was a scam artist. Instead of helping me with my order, he was trying to get me to reset my password.

He sent me an “OTP” or “One Time Passcode” after I told him my email address. He entered my email address into the forgot password area (which anyone can do) and it sent me the code.

In the email, Amazon has very tiny font that warns users “Amazon will never ask for the OTP.” When I mentioned this to him, he hung up.

I write the number listed on Google already only to warn people who may be searching for it:

DO NOT CALL THIS NUMBER: 1-877-581-6838 … 18775816838 …

When I search the number, there are ZERO results… It’s very odd that Google suggested it in search.

Amazons real phone number is 1-888-280-4331.
