A Yearning for Wisdom

By: David Rader II on March 10, 2012 @ 12:14 AM

One of the best things a person has that gets better as they age is their stories. My daughter has asked me many times to "tell me a story from when you were little." I still love to hear stories from my parents, aunts and uncles. Nothing means more to me than to hear my elders tell a lesson to my children. Skip the toys for presents and share a story. My family is not what most in this country would consider wealthy, but I wouldn't consider us very poor either. More than anything, I think we and the rest of the world is poor in wisdom. If wisdom prevailed, surely there would be peace. Right?

Wisdom comes from learning. Unless we're experimenting with the sounds of our own voice, we're not learning very much while we're talking. Maybe we can listen.
